Powers

Powers are simply multiplying a number by itself over and over again.
eg. 3 to the power of 4 is 3 × 3 × 3 × 3 = 81

Powers involve:

  • exponents (tells the number of times a numeral is multiplied by itself)
  • area (measures the number of square units covering a surface)
  • volume (measures the amount an object can hold, in cubic units

See our Teaching Resources for Math for exponent worksheets, lesson plans, etc.
